Cast/Crew

Tusi Tamasese  – writer/director.

Tusi is a native of Samoa and was educated at the University of Waikato & Victoria University in Wellington. He is the recipient of a number of awards and his short film “Va Tapuia” screened widely on the Festival circuit in 2010. “The Orator” is his first feature film.

Catherine Fitzgerald – producer.

Catherine is an experienced producer who counts amongst her credits the short films “Two Cars One Night”, “Va Tapuia” & the feature documentary “Rain of the Children”.

Maiava Nathaniel Lees – associate producer – casting director.

Maiava is an internationally recognised actor (Lord of the Rings, The Matrix)

Leon Narbey- Cinematographer.

Leon is one of New Zealand’s most experienced and highly regarded cinematographers. His work can be seen in the films “Dean Spanley”, “No 2” & “Whale Rider”.

Faafiaula Sagote – Saili.

From the villages of Salelologa, Sasina, and Vailele, Fiaula is 31 years old and the youngest of 7 brothers and 1 sister. He went to school at Sasina primary school, and since leaving school,  he has worked as a carpenter alongside family duties. “The Orator” is his debut acting role.

Tausili Pushparaj – Vaaiga.

Tausili is a graduate of Toi Whakaari: The New Zealand Drama School.  In 2002 Tausili appeared in the original production of VULA which performed in the Auckland Festival and the NZ International Arts Festival.  Tausili has also appeared internationally in Vula in Guam, Fiji and at the Sydney Opera House. Tausili’s role as Vaaiga in “The Orator” is her feature film debut.

Salamasina Silivelia Mataia – Litia.

A 19 years old from the villages of Vaimoso, Taufusi, and Falealupo, Salamasina is currently completing a Diploma in Business at the Manukau Institute of Technology “The Orator” is her debut acting role.
